About the role
Astraea is hiring a QA Engineer to own day-to-day testing of our live product. This is a remote role, 40 hours per week, working closely with our founders and engineers.
We’re looking for someone who can learn a complex product, think like a user, and find meaningful problems without needing a detailed script for every task. You’ll help us ship with confidence by testing complete workflows, identifying edge cases, and checking that fixes actually solve the problem.
What you’ll do
• Run manual, exploratory, smoke, and regression testing across core product workflows.
• Test new features and existing functionality, including error states, permissions, data inputs, and cross-browser behavior.
• Write clear bug reports with reproduction steps, expected versus actual behavior, screenshots or recordings, and an assessment of user impact.
• Work with engineers to reproduce issues, verify fixes, and catch regressions.
• Build and maintain a practical regression checklist and communicate what was tested, what failed, and what remains uncertain.
• Notice confusing product behavior and suggest improvements to the user experience.
What we’re looking for
• Hands-on experience testing web applications or SaaS products.
• Strong exploratory testing skills: you can identify risky workflows and design useful tests independently.
• Clear written communication and reproducible, well-prioritized bug reports.
• Attention to detail, curiosity, and reliable follow-through.
• Comfort working directly with a small engineering team as the product changes.
Nice to have
Experience with browser developer tools, API testing, SQL, or tools such as Playwright or Cypress. The primary focus of this role is manual and exploratory testing; automation experience is a bonus.\

Experience with Clinical Trials
Schedule
Remote, 40 hours per week. Please include your timezone and typical working hours in your application.
How to apply
Tell us about a product you’ve tested, a meaningful bug you found, and how you investigated it. If available, include a redacted sample bug report that demonstrates how you communicate an issue. Please do not share confidential information from previous employers.
About the company
Astraea is building the AI operating system for clinical trials.
Clinical development today is slowed down by fragmented systems, manual data workflows, and months of handoffs between data management, biostatistics, statistical programming, clinical operations, and regulatory teams. Astraea helps life sciences teams move faster by turning protocols, CRFs, SAPs, and raw clinical data into validated, traceable outputs for trial execution and submission.
We are starting with clinical trial biometrics and data management: SDTM, ADaM, TFLs, edit checks, query management, QC, audit trails, and FDA-ready packages. Our goal is to collapse months of clinical trial work into days while keeping humans in the loop for review, validation, and regulatory confidence.
We are YC-backed and working with sponsors, CROs, and clinical development teams to build the next generation of clinical trial infrastructure.
